New to the Wellington Farm schedule of events for the coming season is a series of four Music Concerts.  Price of admission to the individual concerts will be $12.50 per person.  Season tickets for all four concerts are currently available for $25.00 per person which represents a 50% savings.   The second concert on July 5 will feature the Salt City Dixieland Jazz Band, an old established band that has played for audiences all across the country.  Season tickets can be purchased at the Visitor Center any weekend beginning May 24 or by visiting the website at www.wellingtonfarmpark.org. Wellington Farm is rapidly becoming a major tourist attraction in the Midwest and as a result plans are currently underway to construct a major museum building which will house one of the largest collections of historic harvesting equipment in the Midwest.  Wellington Farm Park, Inc. is a 501©3 non-profit corporation.   Welling Farm, USA is located at 6944 S. Planning for Roscommon RiverFest 2014 is ongoing. The two-day event is scheduled for the weekend of July 19-20 in Roscommon. Theme of the event is the AuSable River and is specifically targeted toward creating a positive experience for the youth of the community, as well as visitors. Booth space is $35 per 10 x 10 spot for businesses. Space for non-profit organizations is free and youth crafts are encouraged.  A poker walk to area businesses has been scheduled as well. To participate in the poker walk contact Tracy Constance at [email protected]. Expected to participate on Saturday are the Centershop Archery Booth, the Wild Turkey Federation BB gun booth, Gahaghan Nature Center, Huron Pines conservation exhibit, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Higgins Township Fire Department, and much more. A highlight of Saturday’s  is a live performance by the 126th U.S. Army Band on the lawn in front of the CRAF Center at 5 p.m. Please bring lawn chairs. The Army band’s performance will be followed by the Third Annual Roscommon-Houghton Lake Alumni Football game at Roscommon High School at 7 p.m. The highly successful event is a fundraiser for the school’s football programs. Houghton Lake currently leads the series 2-0. On Sunday morning, the Dock Dog competition is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. It will be followed by a Cardboard Boat Race at 10 a.m. Roscommon Rotary Club will then be conducting its Roscommon Rotary 26th  Annual Great AuSable Duck Race at 2 p.m. Tickets will be available for sale the day of the event.  After the Dock Dogs and prior to the Duck Race the Roscommon Lions Club will have hot dogs, chips and water available. Kathy McCoy of Calamity Jane will perform an acoustical solo beneath the Wallace Park Pavilion. The Roscommon Lions Club will be grilling hot dogs.
